1. Set your account to "Open To Work", but to recruiters only

This is a good strategy if you are looking to climb the ladder. By keeping your work status open, it opens new opportunities for you as recruiters will know that you're keen to explore. For example, if you are an executive looking for an assistant manager role, you can always put your interested job title as assistant manager. Don't worry as you won't have the green Open To Work badge - only recruiters with recruiting access (which is paid) will be able to see it.

2. Turn on Creator Mode

I've been using Creator Mode for many years and as a LinkedIn content creator, I love it because it gives me a lot of analytics! It also allows people to follow me, as opposed to having all of them connect with me, because sometimes it dilutes the quality of the content I see on my feed (too many random people haha). There are other tools if you're super into maintaining a personal branding on LinkedIn, but I don't use it 😉

3. Pin your best posts

The first thing recruiters see when they view your profile will be these pinned posts. It gives you an opportunity to choose and put forward what you want recruiters to see - so share some posts which showcase thought leadership, and pin those. It makes you look very professional.

4. Keep your work history updated

You can just copy whatever is in your resume or CV and paste it. Your LinkedIn essentially works as a public CV, where recruiters can use it to gauge if they want to contact you. Its even better because it gives you a space to highlight the soft and hard skills you gained in each role, as well as add photos, videos and articles to give depth and context to your role.

5. 'Borrow' and leverage on your company's employer branding

Your current company may have spent lots of money on employer branding to make themselves look good. Use that branding by showcasing your involvement with them and what you learnt with them. Other companies (especially those in the same industry) love to 'steal' talented employees from competitors. Since its hard to build a following especially when you're new to the platform, borrowing your company's name is a good way to start.
