Hi guys, here's some tips on how to start your coding journey!! It may seem daunting at first but you'll get there (Coding still gives me a headahce tho...)

✅ 1. Choose a programming language.

If you have absolutely no clue where to start, I personally recommend picking up Python first as it is a high level programming language. The syntax and commands are more easily understood and readable compared to other languages like java, C, C++ or assembly language. Building a solid foundation in python will make it easier for you to learn the other languages. Also, if you're interested in Data Science, you can consider picking SQL as well!

✅ 2. Find an online course and stick to it!

We all have 24hrs in a day and if i can do it, i'm sure you guys can do it better 👍 (Don't make excuses!! It won't take out a large portion of your day...just play less games or be less active on tiktok/insta). There are also other educational sites like Udemy and whatnot so you don't have to die die pick one from here! You can even learn from sites like w3schools without actually starting an online course.

✅ 3. Practice makes perfect 💯

My A maths teacher once told my class (7yrs ago😵) that if you practiced A math diligently for 10,000hrs, you'll get good at it. Same goes for coding. Ofc, its a pretty exaggerated analogy but we all know that we have only truly learnt and understood something when we're able to apply it properly. You can check out the sites in Pic 4 for some suggestions. Personally, i'd recommend python tutor if you're learning python as it breaks down your code for you step by step. Code wars is useful for consolidating your knowledge as it provides questions with varying levels of difficulty. Hacker Rank is pretty sick as well but i feel code wars really lets you start small 👨‍💻 If you don't feel like downloading an IDE because you're uncertain for your own personal reasons, do check out replit as you can write code online in your preferred language.

✅ 4. Integrated Development Enviromment (IDE)

What is this exactly? If i were to break it down into layman terms, imagine you're making a ppt. The IDE is basically your template. But you gotta follow the rules of that template (which is the syntax of whatever language you're learning). Makes your life so much easier 😎 Anyway....there are actually quite a lot out there so it really depends on what your preference is! I'm currently using Eclipse for Java so yea. I'd recommend pycharm or python idle for python beginners. Once you start getting the hang of it, you can then explore your options :)

Conclusion :

Sorry guys this may seem rather longwinded but tbh it's not that difficult to start your coding journey. Whether you actually get good at it, well... that's up to you 😅 but tell yourself that if someone else can do it, you can do it better. Just try lah! Gaining another skill will only benefit you ;)
