Learnt all the wheelthrowing techniques in 2 Hours

Hey 🍋🍋! Last Sunday I went for a 2 hour beginner’s pottery class with my husband at AM I ADDICTED Pottery Studio (Orchard Central)

💎Do note that you’ll be asked to remove all your hand jewellery in case it scratches against the sides of the pottery wheel!

The 2-hour session includes -

🥣 A fully guided session from start to finish (you’ll probanly make a bowl or small cup)

🥣 A free-and-easy wheelthrowing session where you can make anything you want, following the basic steps you were previously taught

At the end of the 2-hour class you’ll be able to make 2 items! The lovely team will glaze the finished clay products for you, and you can select the glaze finishes you want. The items will be ready for your pick-up 30 days later, after which you can decide to join a painting class! I think there is a preferential rate if you sign yourself up for that right after the session, but I’m not fully sure.

It was quite relaxing and challenging at some point. I feel wheelthrowing is actually quite intuitive, but it can be quite overwhelming trying to mimic the hand gestures of the instructor, and also demoralising when your clay breaks or turns out to be something you didn’t expect, especially if its your first time. But all’s good as long as you give yourself room to learn and make mistakes!!💗

I’ll definitely do it again, but maybe with another friend😂 It will be less interesting to go with my husband again unless both of us are really in the headspace of wanting to improve our skills and actually make items we want to use at home.

It’s an experience worth a try in my opinion:)) & a really easy & meaningful way to spend 2 hours!
