During our renovation, we learned a valuable lesson about trusting quotes at face value. Our ID provided a quote based on the floorplan measurements, and everything seemed fine. But something didn’t feel right about the numbers, so we decided to check them ourselves.
With a measuring tape in hand, we measured the carpentry and tabletop dimensions, and sure enough, the numbers didn’t match up. The dimensions quoted were LARGER than the actual measurements, meaning we were being overcharged. If we hadn’t caught it, the payment would have gone through with us unknowingly paying for more than we received.
This experience taught us the importance of doing your due diligence. Even if a professional provides you with information, it’s always smart to verify. If we hadn’t checked, we would’ve paid for something we didn’t get.
