Bacon and Turkey Cabbage Roll #bacon #turkey #cabbage #lemon8challenge
Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey
1 medium carrot (Shredded)
1 bell pepper (Diced)
1 red onion (Diced)
6 strips thick cut bacon
1 head cabbage
1 cup AP flour
3 eggs
2 cups panko breadcrumbs
Salt – 2 tsp
Pepper – 1 ½ tsp
Garlic Powder – 1 ½ tsp
Chili Powder - 1 ½ tsp
Paprika – 1 tsp
4 cups vegetable oil or canola for frying
Start by cooking bacon in skillet until crispy then remove. Then chop your pepper and onion and shred your carrots simply because shredding your carrots will give you a more even cook. Then add vegetables to same skillet where you cooked the bacon.
Season your ground turkey with 2 tbsp of seasoning and add to cooked vegetables and once veggies and turkey are cooked remove from skillet and re-season.
Remove 12-15 cabbage pieces and boil them for 4-5 minutes over a low boil. Remove and then pat dry.
Fill each cabbage with 2 tbsp of the meat and veggie filling and roll them up just like a tortilla. In separate bowl add flour, egg, and panko breadcrumbs. Dipping and coating the roll in each one coating very well so the breading sticks perfectly.
Lastly fry them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 ½ to 4 minutes or until it gets to a golden-brown color. Then they are ready and it’s time to serve.
