I started looking for heatless options because I couldn’t bring my Dyson air wrap to Japan due to its voltage difference (girlies take note!!) 🥲 I refuse to have ugly hair on my holiday and the normal heated curling rod was not an option because i burnt my hair using it once, lol skill issue 🤕 so I went on TikTok to look for other options.

This heatless curling rod came up all over my TikTok page and I decided to give it a try! For just $4 on Shopee you’ll get the curling rod, 2 scrunchies and a hair clip! Here’s my honest review 👇🏻

It takes awhile to follow the tutorial but essentially it’s just braiding your hair! Instead of 3 separate sections, you just use 2, the curling rod will act as the 3rd “section” in the middle. Took me about 10 minutes to get the hang of it 😬 which isn’t bad! Just takes practice.

I curled it while it was damp and went to sleep with it. It was honestly very uncomfortable to sleep in and limits your movements especially if you’re a side sleeper like me 🫤 but beauty is pain right 🥲 I woke up with it all still intact except for my fringe so honestly if you tie it tight enough you can sleep however rough you want 😌

The following morning, my hair was still slightly damp so i used a hairdryer to dry it while it’s still in the curling rod, then i took it out 😲 I was so scared that it might not be effective or could end up looking too wild, but to my surprise, it worked amazingly well!! The cover photo shows the curls fresh out the curling rod 🤭

The curls will look slightly more intense when you first take the rod out but will loosen up into nice wavy curls by mid day! Which is what i prefer anyway 🥰 would give this product a 9/10🌟

I also read some TikTok comments and some people have said that damp hair didn’t work for them because the curls got too wild or that damp hair will weigh their hair down, not holding the curls! So it’s really up to you to trial and error the process to know what works best for your hair ☺️
