things i learned after rejecting 3 jobs! 👀

here’s some things i learned during my longg rollercoaster 6 months internship hunt - after many rejections and no offers + rejecting 3 jobs too!! just my personal tips, hope this helps :^)

𝟏. 𝐓𝐢𝐤𝐓𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫

yes i said it. 🗣️ tiktok is an educational platform!!!!

- study for your interviews on tiktok just search interview tips manymanymany professional/ specialised accounts educating about this!!

- how to write your resume / CV: so many useful videos on how to rephrase your work experience to sounding better, how to tailor your resume according to the job etc

- tiktok is your academic weapon 🩷

𝟐. 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝!

it can get quite upsetting after multiple job rejections - ive had a few times i cleared all 4 rounds of interviews with quite positive feedback just to get rejected but it’s ok!!!!!!!

in hindsight, if i got into those few jobs early on, i wouldve settled and just accepted instead of searching more and landing my current role that i love much more

𝟑. 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲!

okay this depends on which year you’re in and how important ur internship is!

after being rejected many times, i actually got offered by 3 different companies! and i was quite happy BUT i felt like they didnt suit me - ive worked in startups 2x already and for the 3 companies that offered me, i felt like the environment would be similar to what i have already experienced

i knew i would be taking this internship for 6 months and i really wanted it to be a big company that i can learn more from so i kindly turned down those offers and continued my hunt!!!! manifestation energy only 💆‍♀️💆‍♀️💆‍♀️ ok but take this with a pinch of salt! if it’s your first intern, you may not have the affordance of being picky (i wasnt picky at all in y1, just went with the flow, it still turned out great!! any experience beats no experience)

𝟒. 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕

had a very interesting round 1 interview that i cant share details about but it was a more group creative brainstorm type and something i learned from my group mates was try to think what an interviewer is looking out for! the task basically had nth to do with any of our job scopes so i figured its just to test how we brought our area of expertise into the task - for me itll be my creativity, aesthetic and how i could incorporate marketing or PR skills into the brainstorm!

omg and if ure gg for interviews with many rounds, pls rmb that the interviewers most likley change each round! idk why between my 3rd n 4th round i assumed the interviewer is the same just with a bigger panel, but they were completely diff n i had to reintroduce myself all over again

𝟓. 𝐛𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲!

even the HR calls! after interviews and calls i just drop them a thank you email and express my enthusiasm for the role just so its less touch and go but they know that im grateful for each interview opportunity

𝟔. 𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐦 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫

i cant say much about linkedin i still dk how to use it.. but i think at least get a nice profile pic (i borrowed my friends blazer, went to my halls computer room,snapped a few pics n done HAHAHA) and put in your past experience in ur profile esp if ure applying jobs on linkedin. a few times ive spotted the hr stalking my profile / downloaded my resume directly from linkedin.. sooo many just have something to show on ur profile :^)

oki these are just some tips i picked up, im definitely not super super experienced but i hope these tips can help somebody in their own job hunt~~
