Korea was one of the best trips in terms of food and shopping. So good I went twice in 2019 π
And with countries opening up here are my food recommendations (pre pandemic) that are still thriving post pandemic π
1. Gohyang Kalguksu (Netflix famous)
Located at Gwangjang market, this humble store rose to fame when it was featured on Netflix. While Kalguksu is their star dish, I recommend getting their cold buckwheat noodles aka naengmyeon instead. This sweet, refreshing and chewy dish definitely stole the show and was the favourite among my family.

2. Myeondong Kyoja
Specialising in Kalguksu, Kyoja has been around since 1966. They are featured under the Michelin Guide and is definitely worth a visit!!! We went in December which meant it was freezing and this dinner was the best thing to warm us up. The kalguksu broth was simple yet flavourful and the mandu was such a delightful bite. Each mandu was filled with juices almost mimicking a xiao long bao. We still dream about this dinner till date π

3. Cafe Onion Anguk
This place was so beautiful π Inspired by traditional Korean houses (Hanok), the cafe was a perfect place to drink Iced Americanos while delving into their extensive pastry selection. Honestly I managed to only try a few pastries and they werenβt amazing but I would come back for the vibes and ambience π―

4. Tosokchon Samgyetang
You canβt say youβve eaten Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) until you youβve tried Tosokchon Samgyetang. The chicken is so tender that it falls right off and the soup is a milky broth packed with flavour. While it may seem touristy it definitely lives up to its hype π

5. λνΌ
This was a recommendation by my sisterβs korean friend! For some high quality Kbbq, this place is literally so good. The pork and beef are aged so you know you be getting that good stuff. Beware tho it can be pricey but definitely cheaper and better than what you can find in Singapore. Our hidden gem that weβre gonna go back for β€οΈπ
