Iโve done several half marathons, both in NYC and other locations. Training for a race in New York City can be challenging. You have to navigate traffic, people, the elements (crazy humidity and heat in the summer or snow, sleet and the freezing cold weather in the winter) and more.
Here are a few tips to have a positive training experience! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ๐ฅ
1. Find a race youโre excited about: The first step is signing up for a race that youโre excited about, and that gives you enough time to train adequately. Google โhalf marathons in NYCโ and several results will come up. Iโd also recommend looking into NYC Runs and NYRR.
2. Establish a training schedule: Start slowly and gradually increase your mileage. There are so many free resources and training guides on the internet. Dedicate an hour to finding some resources and establishing your training schedule!
3. Identify a few go-to running routes: more in this later (post coming soon! ๐) but there are several running routes and tracks in NYC, you just have to know where to look.
