It is SO important to incorporate active rest days into your weekly split for adequate muscle recovery and regrowth!
As someone who loves lifting weights and HIIT classes - it was hard for me at first to understand the importance of active recovery days, until I was able to see positive results in my regular workouts from incorporating this into my routine!
It’s wild how much progress you will be able to see in your workouts once you start regularly resting your muscles and joints ✨
My favorite active recovery days look like a combination of any of these ideas:
- low impact Pilates
- core-focused work
- outdoor walk or light incline treadmill walk (max speed 3.0 mph with a max incline of 5.0)
- yoga
- stretching
- simple/low impact barre class
- sauna / steam room 😍
keep it simple and keep it light! Remember, these days are all about REST 😊
