WHAT is a skimming scam⁉️⚠️

Illicit devices, aptly called skimmers, lurk in plain sight all around us, at the ready to steal your data. The worst part? They’re so well hidden that you may unknowingly be the one to hand your sensitive information directly to the criminals!

What can you do to protect yourself?

•Cover the keypad when entering your data

•Use trusted machines in public, well-lit spaces

•Inspect card terminals for loose/unusual components

•Monitor your bank accounts regularly to ensure no suspicious transactions appear

•Set up fraud alerts on your accounts so you get notified right away if there is any suspicious activity

•Choose chip or contactless payments over swiping (it tends to be more secure)

•Use RFID-blocking wallets

•Use bluetooth scanning phone features or apps to detect bluetooth signals in the area (usually more advanced skimmers)

•Opt for cash where you can, or walk away if you aren’t sure it’s safe.

Always call to report fraud right away! And always bank with an FDIC-insured bank so that if you do suffer from a fraud attack, your money is insured and you can get it back!
