HAPPY DENIM DAY!

denim day !!

for those who don’t know, denim day is celebrated on the last wednesday of april every year to support victims and survivors of sexual assault. it originated in 1999 when an italian supreme court judge ruled that a woman could not have been assaulted because her jeans were too tight, meaning she had to have consented because the perpetrator couldn’t have taken her jeans off by themselves.

i wear denim today because i am a survivor of sexual assault. for the longest time i blamed myself for what happened to me. i wish i had someone back when i was assaulted telling me it wasn’t my fault and nothing i could’ve done could’ve stopped it from happening. i hope to be that person for other people, so i proudly wear my denim today.
