Read this to score job opportunities on LinkedIn 🤓

⚠️ Disclaimer: I’m no LinkedIn expert and these tips are purely based on my personal experience! ⚠️

Here are some tips that could help boost your LinkedIn portfolio and get you job opportunities without you even looking!! Most of my tips here are pretty fundamental so if you’re new to setting up your LinkedIn portfolio, this post is for you!

1️⃣ Keep your skills up to date!

- Literally just spam all the skills you have!

- Especially important if they are industry-related skills (e.g. colour grading, sound design, video editing are impt skills for post production)

- In my case, my skills reflect how I’m quite the all-rounder when it comes to post production! (: This makes the job market bigger for me as it expands the scope to both offline and online editing.

- Keep updating this as you progress through your career journey!

- This tip is applicable for literally everything in your LinkedIn profile too like your certification, jobs, bio, etc. Just update them from time to time or every time you hit a new milestone.

2️⃣ Share your work!!

- Your profile pretty much doubles up as your portfolio/CV! Share work that you’ve done.

- But you don’t have to share EVERY single thing you’ve done. Narrow it down to the 🤩HIGHLIGHTS🤩:

— Works you’re proud of

— Works that show the scope of what you cover (e.g. I edit corporate videos but within that scope I can edit narrative videos, videos working with self-shot footage, interview videos, etc!)

— Works that are impressive! (E.g. big events you covered, big projects, projects working with big clients)

- Remember to TAG fellow contributors including colleagues, clients and partners!

- 💡Use lots of relevant HASHTAGS to help you get discovered too!

3️⃣ Post about relevant experiences

- Share industry-related things that you have done/attended outside of work!

- This shows that you have a strong interest and are passionate about what you do

- Honestly, it doesn’t have to be big, glamorous events! It could even be a post about a book you’ve read or a video you watched that’s related to your job/career.

- 💡 Remember to personalise your posts by adding your personal reflections!

4️⃣ Share your industry knowledge

- Don’t hoard all your knowledge and skills to yourself!! Use the platform to share these insights 🤩

- Not only will you be helping your community but you’ll also show potential hirers what exactly you know about your job and your drive to learn 😎

- Big YES if your company dedicates a post to you/your team and what you/you guys did, REPOST IT!!

5️⃣ Lastly, repost what you like!!

- Your profile doesn’t have to be just posts by you! Just like a fb profile, like and repost everything that catches your eye

- Repost and like:

— Works, projects, or events you like,

— Industry knowledge and updates relevant to you

— Posts about work culture that you agree with

— General posts about career, personal growth, etc, that you agree with and strive for

- This will help people and potential hirers know what exactly you’re interested in in your career/industry. They’ll get a better understanding of what you’re looking out for — in a job, in work culture, in projects you want to work on — and they’ll be able to tell if you’re a fit for them. Or it may also give them the impression that you’re driven and know what you want which can be quite attractive (in a hiring sense lol)!
