⚠️Trigger warning: body image⚠️

1️⃣ Not keeping track of the weights I use for each exercise

- SO IMPT! Do it all the time now.

- inhibits progress bc always trying to remember which weight I was last at and I might end up working with a weight that is lower than my actual working weight. Will take even longer to progressive overload

2️⃣ Being afraid to go heavier for my compound lifts.

- I would stick to the same working weight for weeks (e.g. hipthrusted 60kg forever at 10 reps a set)

- The struggle is still there. I still feel the burn. But I’m not hitting my goal of growing my muscles.

- I now up my weight whenever I start to hit 10 reps with minimal struggle in my hip thrusts! (Currently hipthrusting 70kg at 8 reps! And excited to progress further)

3️⃣ Getting too caught up with my weight and how my body looks

- Used to beat myself up over missing a day of my workout routine or if I was consuming too much unhealthy food

- This created an unhealthy relationship with my body and with food as I would scrutinise how I looked and what I consumed.

- This also put me in low moods and made me loose my self confidence.

- I’ve soon learnt that for me, I’m happiest when I do everything (and eat everything 🤤) in moderation. Also just being content with the fact that I’m even maintaining a healthy lifestyle to begin with.

5️⃣ Impulse buying (cheap) gym wear!!!

- I would do my research and heavily consider what protein powder or what gym accessories I wanted to buy but when it came to clothes… 😶

- Don’t buy gym wear JUST because they look good/are in trend. It’s better to invest in good quality gym wear than buying cheap low quality pieces that don’t hold up or don’t provide the support/compression/breathability that you need.

- If you do need to feed that impulse tho, you can always consider buying your activewear second hand on Carousell or do a bit of research first before making your purchase! There are defo some cheap activewear out there that’s both cheap and good (:
