Matcha Lava Waffles @ Kooks Creamery

I’ve been a fan of Kooks Creamery since 2019, when I first went to their Cathay outlet. Have been visiting them on and off.

My all-time favourite there has been this Unicorn Lava cookie🦄 which is basically this mermaid spirulina ice cream with rainbow lava cookie. But when I went there a few days ago it wasn’t on the menu anymore :(

Kooks Creamery is currently trending again for their Chocolate/Matcha Lava Waffles!! So I went down to the Serangoon outlet to try it out!

1. Matcha Lava Waffles 🍵🧇

Comes with 2 square pieces of normal waffle, and the matcha lava, with the option for single or double scoop of ice cream!!

In all honesty, I was very disappointed… I mean maybe it was a misunderstanding on my end but when they publicised LAVA WAFFLES, I was expecting lava to ooze out from inside the waffles when cut open, but UMMM the lava you get is the lava you see on top of the waffle…

Not too bad though, as a pretty picky matcha lover, I liked the matcha lava!! Wasn’t too sweet and it had just the right bitterness to it. Though, because the waffle is not lava infused, there wasn’t enough of it to go with both the waffle. Waffle wise, it was oooookay, not bad, but not fantastic. Have tried great waffles before.

2. Chocolate Lava Cookies 🍫🍪

This is definitely kooks creamery’s signature!! I really love their lava cookies, and used to buy their Christmas gift packs with Christmas-special flavoured cookies! That was pre-covid times…

I think their chocolate lava isn’t too sweet, which is great!! And the cookie is definitely something you can’t find easily outside!! It’s still good, but I remember the texture being more soft and crispy. It was a little too soft for my liking this time :((

3. Earl grey and Arabica Coffee ice cream 🍨

Honestly, I remember their ice cream tasting better. It was a little too sweet this time, but maybe it’s just my ageing tastebuds… wasn’t too bad though!!

Before covid I usually get my kooks creamery fix at The Cathay outlet, so maybe it s just a QC thing that needs to be fixed?? I would still recommend giving Kooks Creamery a try though! NOMNOM
