“Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said, “No, you did laugh.””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I think sometimes we pray and we think it’s impossible. When we hear someone telling us that we’ll get through it or it will happen, we laugh or doubt. Even God speaking to you can be so awestriking… is that a word? Anyways you can be awestruck when God gives you a promise or answers your prayer.

Abraham was 75 years old when God first made the promise that Abraham would be made into “a great nation.” Genesis 21:5 tells us that Abraham was 100 years old when Sarah gave birth to Isaac, which means Abraham had to wait 25 years!

Like Abraham when he first got the promise, it didn’t happen right away. God didn’t give Sarah a baby right away, but they had to wait awhile. Abram’s name was even changed from Abram to Abraham which means father of many nations, but he only had one son at the time. Sarah’s name was also changed at the same time. Sarah is the only woman in the Bible whose name was changed by God. She was first called Sarai—meaning “my princess”—but God changed her name to Sarah—signifying “princess” to all .

We know that Sarah laughed, but Abraham when he first received the promise and his name was changed laughed as well.

“Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

But just like we laugh at something because it may seem impossible, God shows up and makes it happen. #biblejournalwithme #biblestudy #biblejournaling #bible #genesis
