Why I stopped posting my daughter on socials

I feel like this has been such a big topic on social media lately. So, to post or not to post?

Personally, I feel like this decision is up to each individual parent to decide what is best for them! I used to post my daughters face and I still do sometimes. It’s so important to understand why the conversation is being had and honestly why it is such an important decision to make if you’re a parent in the 21st century.

Here are the main two reasons I RARELY post my daughters face anymore…

1. I don’t want her to be the face of my content

I want people to follow me for me. I don’t want strangers feeling like they own a piece of my daughter and starting to demand to see her. I am more than a mom and I want those who follow me to know my daughter may pop in here and their but if you want to follow me you will see me not her!

2. The internet is a weird place

The internet is forever and unfortunately once it’s out there you can’t take it back. I don’t want to give any weirdos free range to use my daughter’s likeness for anything and everything they want. Also, until she is old enough to decide what she wants to do, my default will always be to protect her how I see fit.

I still have her pop in some videos and pictures very rarely but her dad and/or I need to be in the photo or video with her and she cannot be in an inappropriate situation (I.e in the bath or a diaper)
