Today let’s make Chinese Style Steamed Fish!

Tender and silky flesh with ginger, scallion and soy sauce.

You’ll have 2 bowls of rice 😅

I am using golden pomfret fish (bawal emas)

today, other options are cod, grouper, seabass and snapper.

Starts by making ginger scallion sauce by sauteing white part of spring onion and ginger in heated oil until fragrant.

Turn off the heat, season with salt, chicken stock (optional) and sesame oil. Set aside.

Then, place white part of spring onion on a plate, place the fish on the spring onion.

Put some sliced ginger in the fish belly.

Steam fish for around 8-10 minutes.

Mix 2 tbs soy sauce with some white pepper and pour on the steamed fish.

Discard the water that comes out from steaming the fish.

We can’t risk having fishy steamed fish 😃

Then, pour over the soy sauce mixture onto the fish and serve.

Some prefer to heat up oil and pour over the fish.

That’s one way, or you can saute the ginger and scallion separately like I did.

Whatever works for you.

However, my housemate is not a ginger fan.

So, this method works well.
