1. Plan early!

And I really mean early, it's always good to start 6 months to 1 year ahead. This way, you will have ample time to make necessary comparisons! Unless you are as chill as me, you can challenge yourself to 4 months before the actual day. HAHAH

2. Choose your bridal squad wisely!

You wouldn't want someone who is not committed to the event. But at the same time, please don't be a bridezilla and make them super stressful over the wedding planning. I am really thankful for my girls who have grown with me for being there at all the discussions and meetings!

3. Don't be too hard on yourself/your partner/ your bridal squad.

Nobody wants hiccups, but what are the chances of 100% win rate (aka having every single thing being perfect), right? Because I taobao-ed most of my reception table & photo gallery decorations, I have to be prepared that it might not turn out the way I wanted. What you can do is to do a dry run at home on how you want them to be place, take a photo, print it out and pass on to your bridal squad or family members who will be helping! Makes things easier!

Most importantly, it's your big day! All you need to do is sit back, enjoy, and relax.

4. Essential kit!!!!!

I can not emphasize more on this! All brides to be. Please prepare a pouch with the following items:

(a) Lipstick (closest match to your makeup), you can check with your makeup artist if the colour matches!)

(b) Mint sweets - you will need this through the day (trust me)

(c) Oilment - I didn't have this, but I think it would help because my car ride to the hotel was sooooo uncomfortable because of the jam.

(d) Roll on perfume - after all the morning ceremonies.... you wouldn't want to smell bad on your first march-in, right?

(e) Pins Pins Pins - for gown related emergencies

(f) Bloting paper - for all the facial oil that is enough to fry an egg 🥚 HAHHAHA

&& not compulsory, it's best to have a mini sewing kit!

Have one of your bridesmaids carry this pouch along with her throughout the morning event!

5. Keep everything simple!

Well, as much as I would love to continue with all the Chinese traditions... doing them all would mean we would need to spend more time, more effort, and more money. We skipped having to change to Kua because we find that it's such a hassle to change out of my first morning gown.

But before you skip any traditions, please consult both your parents because this is about two families and NOT just about you.

We also didn't mind bout the sequence of the whole morning ceremony. I believe we were supposed to 敬茶 to the groom family before returning back to 娘家 to 敬 my parents. But to keep things simple, we simply went ahead to 敬茶 with my family when my partner came to fetch me. Really saved a lot of time!

All in all, just enjoy the whole wedding process. I am also taking this opportunity to reminisce about our wedding day. And I love every single moment of it. More on that next time!

Hope this helps!
