Water flosser vs regular foss

I hate flossing with regular floss. The whole process just really triggers my anxiety (which is already bad enough as it is). I've been looking into getting a water flosser, but are they effective? And am wondering if it is better/worse than regular flossing. If it is better,could you give any recommendations?
