"The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath left me utterly frustrated. The fig tree analogy felt tired, lacking the profound impact I expected. What struck me even more was the book's questionable portrayal of racism, seemingly at odds with its feminist reputation. Far from a celebration of empowerment, it left me questioning the hype surrounding it.
