hi girlies!! in today’s #lemon8 post, i’ll be sharing all the tips & tricks to maintain, as well as debunking myths & belief about lash extensions 💯

1️⃣ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚

• getting your lashes done by a skilled professional is so important, as thats the basic foundation on having good, long lasting & non-damaging lash extensions. so do your research on the lash place you’re visiting, read reviews & check pictures of the work/retention before heading there! especially when visiting a salon, where there are many artists (both senior & junior) you may want to check with the admin who will be doing your lashes prior to the appointment!

• your personal aftercare, as well as your own natural lash growth cycle will affect the retention. good aftercare steps will result in better retention! although our natural lash growth cycle is beyond our control, those who experience faster lash growth (which is always a good thing bc it means your lashes are healthy!!), will have to come in for infills/new sets more regularly than others with a slower growth rate! this is bc the extensions are placed closely to the root of your lashes, near your eye lids. once your natural lashes grow, the extensions grow along with them, hence making them loose & messy, with the higher tendency to fall off. one tip is to avoid applying lash serums when you have lash extensions on, to prevent your natural lashes from growing faster than they should!

2️⃣ 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦

• Avoid water for 24 hours after your lash appointment if possible! Check with your lash tech if she applies super bonder after the appointment, as this could speed up the glue drying process down to only 4-6 hours! However, based on my personal recommendation, if you’re able to avoid water for 24H even with super bonder applied, please do so!

• Avoid any oil based products. This includes oil based cleansers, oil based makeup removers, eye creams & face oils. Those with more oily combination skin will find their retention shorter than those with normal-dry combi skin, as the oil naturally produced on your face will also affect the lashes just like products.

• Avoid brushing your lashes when their wet. This would cause water to spread throughout the lashes, which could misshape them & cause them close up & no longer be fluffy! So always comb them after you’ve dried your lashes.

3️⃣ 𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗦

Q: Does extensions damage my real lash?

A: No if its been applied correctly. Yes if its applied incorrectly. Following my stand on visiting the right lash tech, if your lashes are applied without proper isolation, it will disrupt the growth of your natural lashes & would cause pain & discomfort. If you’ve ever heard of the term ‘Cluster Lash’, PLEASEEEE refrain from getting them done ANYWHERE. Cluster lashes require no skill, no experience & can be done cheaply, fast & by anyone. Imagine cutting up a strip of false lashes in 3-5 parts & glueing them to your lids, where all your natural lashes will be glued together as well ☠️

Q: Why does my natural lashes look so little after removing my extensions? Did my natural lashes get damaged?

A: I get this a lot from my own clients, and i always tell them that if i noticed any big gaps or a significant difference in their natural lashes, i would tell them. But i like to call this the ‘mandala’ effect. You’ve spent the last 4-6 weeks looking yourself in the mirror feeling gorgeous as always with lash extensions that you’ve forgotten what your natural lashes looks like! So once you’ve removed them, its highly likely that you’re just used to the full extensions look that now your bare lashes look so ‘little’ 😂😂

Q: Do i have to wear goggles to shower?

A: No you don’t! Hahaha i’ve been seeing people do so and i find it so cute 😂 Your lashes are safe to touch water after the first 24 hours & will not affect the retention as the glue has fully dried! Although, showering under the direct pressure of the water may misshape your lashes. So if the water pressure from your shower head is on the stronger side, i recommend using your hands to splash water onto your face, rather than standing under the direct pressure!

All right girlies! Thats all for today’s #lashextensions 101 with me ♥️ I hope this post has helped some of you, and if you have anymore questions on lash extensions, don’t be shy to leave a comment asking! I’ll respond with my honest opinion & answers 🫶🏻
