Why are 90s movies so rewatchable? 📹📼

My theory: 90’s movies came out at a unique time in history. Slightly before the internet took off but still at a time when cinemas/movie stores were the prime movie outlets.

Most movies probably followed the same niche:

1. Pre-hype in magazines and on TV shows like ET and Extra.

2. Go see movie in theatres.

3. Discuss movie afterwards with friends, etc.

4. Wait for movie to come out on VHS or on PPV.

5. Rent/buy movie.

6. Rewatch the movie you bought 3-5 times per year.

7. Rewatch an additional 2-3 times per year when movie came out on TV (I.e. TBS, TNT, Fox Night at the Movies, etc).

Consider the arc most movies take now and it’s amazing if you can actually get out to see a movie in theatres without looking at your phone.
