Finally incorporated Pilates into my workout regime thanks to the #75softchallenge but it unfortunately just ain’t it for me (sorry to all the Pilates princesses out there), I really wanted to like it 😕 In the spirit of #Postin3 , here’s 3 reasons why:
1️⃣ Overly slow pace
Maybe it’s just me being too used to fast paced group workouts (i.e., cross fit, spin, tabata, etc.), I find myself zoning out after awhile since Pilates is all about activating those core muscles and really feeling ‘em.
2️⃣ Low calorie burn
50 minutes of Pilates only rack up only 100 calories burnt for me. I know the after burn will definitely be more but the numbers just ain’t motivating for me to continue this kinda workout. In relevance, by purely lifting weights for the same time burns at least 170 calories sooo… yeap.
3️⃣ Not being able to ensure that I’m doing the right form
I know there’re mirrors everywhere to check your form buuut given that the class size is relatively large (~28 pax for the place that I went to), I won’t be certain if I’m doing the right movement since the instructor hovers everywhere and doesn’t do the whole workout with the class. Might be better if it’s a smaller class size.
With that being said, the studio that I went to Vive Active @ Joo Chiat issa vibe - aesthetics and amenities were all super on point! Also if you’re new to fitness and wanna ease yourself in, would definitely recommend Pilates cus it’s still a great workout!
