đZepp @ BIGBOX
This is my least favourite concert venue out of all the venues Iâve been to. Iâm not sure if they still hold concerts here because I havenât heard of one in a while, but unless you donât intend to see the face of whoever youâre supporting, I wouldnât recommend this place. Thereâs no elevated seating, so if the attendees are all sitting, chances are you canât see anything unless youâre in the front block.
1. Wanna One (2017)
I was in the second block and although I was within the first 3 rows of this block, I could barely see the boys. However, the VIP benefit of hi-touch made the price worth it! Fans also were able to rush to the front to stand and I was around the 2nd or 3rd row when we stood so we could see the boys clearly. But other than that, I wouldnât sit here again.
2. JBJ (2017)
I canât remember where I sat but I was probably in the VIP/VVIP block. Honestly canât remember much but I enjoyed this concert more! But I was probably in the first block at the front if not I wouldnât have been able to see anything.
đThe Star Theatre
This venue is decent, and if your artist is known for singing, the venue really brings out the quality of their voice really well. Live bands also tend to use this venue! However, I wouldnât come here for a KPOP dance group, especially if itâs purely seating because you canât really see them unless youâre in the front block (A-mid F) on the first floor.
1. Halsey (2018)
I managed to get a seat that was rather near the front, but when the concert was starting everyone ran to the barricade and we stood throughout the concert! As you can see, I was that close to Halsey. Itâs pretty worth it if the concert is a seating-become-standing concert and if youâre on the first floor, or if youâre there to purely enjoy the voice of your artist!
đSingapore Indoor Stadium
This is one of the best venues in Singapore, if not the best. Regardless of where you are, you can see your artist pretty clearly.
1. Seventeen (2018)
I was within the first 200 to enter the standing pen, and although I didnât get barricade (was around the 5th row iirc), I could see the boys clearly when they came to the extension stage. It was rather tough to see them when they were at the main stage though! They looked really small and I was blocked by the fans in front. But they spent quite a bit of time at the extension stage so it was worth it!
2. KAMP (2019)
This is a festival where many KPOP artistes come to perform. I got a complimentary ticket so it wasnât the best CAT, I got CAT 5 and was around the last 3 rows of the venue. However, I could see the artistes clearly! Perhaps because all of them were dancing groups, their explosive dance moves were distinct even from far away. The only time I had to refer to the big screens on the sides of the stage were when they were talking to the fans! This experience convinced me that the SIS is a good venue regardless of where you sit/stand (unless itâs restricted view).
đNational Stadium
This venue sits around 55k people iinw, so you canât expect to see your artist from every possible seat. In my opinion, if youâre seated beyond CAT 2, itâs worth it if youâre just there to enjoy and appreciate the music. If itâs for a KPOP act, it depends on whether you want to see your idolâs face or you just want a birdâs eye view of sorts.
1. BTS (2019)
They are probably one of the only few KPOP artistes to get National Stadium for a concert venue, and ticketing was crazy for sure. I managed to get CAT 1 Purple, and my queue number was around 500. However because of how huge the standing pen is, when I went in I was around the 3rd row in between the main and extension stage, and during the concert I moved to the 2nd row due to pushing and shoving. The view was great! I could see the boys clearly from both the main and extension stage and I managed to take clear videos of them as well. However, I heard from friends that CAT 2 Standing was disastrous as they could barely see anything. Hence, Iâm of the opinion that with a seating plan like this, either CAT 1 or CAT 3-8 would be worth your money. However, if youâre going for a concert like Coldplay or Taylor Swift, I do think any CAT would be worth it! Theyâre much cheaper than KPOP concerts and honestly hearing their voice is already a blessing to the ear.
After being to several concerts, here are my preferred venues and sections:
1. Singapore Indoor Stadium ââââ
Preferred section: The nearest standing pen for standing, the nearest East/West sections for seating. Donât really like North sections unless the extended stage is really long (see KAMP vs Seventeen)
2. National Stadium ââââ
Preferred section: The nearest standing pen for standing, CAT 3 for seating.
3. The Star Theatre âââ
Preferred section: Stalls A-C.
4. Zepp @ BIGBOX â
Preferred section: Closest section in the center.
As a KPOP fan, I prefer going for CATs where I can see them clearly, so my preferred venues and sections may vary from fans of pop artists! Having gone for a few concerts, I feel that it can be rather restrictive and feel claustrophobic at times, which is why I wouldnât give any of the venues a full five stars. I would definitely want to attend a concert in Korea/overseas in the future as Iâve heard really positive things about overseas venues!
