Honestly, I grew up kind of hating supplements because my mom had me take them every day and who likes swallowing pills?? But now that I understand my body better and what it needs, and now that I’m more educated on what different supplements do, I’ve found that they’re a great tool to help boost energy and support my body on different days.

Like I said in the slideshow, please please please consult a doctor or medical professional, or at least read articles by medical professionals backed by studies, before jumping into the world of supplements. I’m not a medical professional, and I never claim to be one, but I know there are LOTS of influencers online who will recommend supplements all willy-nilly without doing proper research, and tell people to buy things that might not be helpful for everyone just because they have anecdotal experience.

While I don’t think it’s super harmful to take a ton of supplements at once, you’ll have a better idea of what supplements will actually help you if you speak to your doctor, and what supplements might “cancel each other out” when taken together because taking them together might affect your body’s absorption of those nutrients. You’ll save time, energy, and money if you have an educated understanding of taking supplements before diving in headfirst.

Anyways, all that being said, a multivitamin is a great place to start if you’re not sure how to begin taking supplements. In addition to that, I’d say that most people I know are vitamin-D deficient because we’re all working indoors now, so for me it’s safe to consume a vitamin D supplement as well (my doctor said it’s okay, too.)

Fish oil is great for brain function and getting those omega-3s if you don’t get them naturally much in your diet.

Vitamin B-complex is helpful if you get tired easily (like me) and if you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.
