I tend to feel like I’m on a roll for a week or so, and then I get so exhausted that I get completely derailed! It’s hard for me to not swing from extreme to extreme sometimes (between super productive and complete couch potato.)

On days where all I want to do is scroll on my phone or binge true crime documentaries on Netflix, these are some things that help me get moving again. It helps me to remember that (1) my worth is not based on my productivity, AND (2) doing small tasks and getting up off the couch are small and valid wins in themselves!

Hopefully, if this is something you struggle with too, these tips will help you out :)

🏃🏻‍♀️ Exercise - I really.. don’t like exercise? LOL. But even doing a minute of jumping jacks or taking a slow walk around the block while I listen to a podcast or audiobook really sets me back on the right track to do some other things I need to get done!

🥳 Pick a reward for yourself - Look, I personally love to live by the mantra, “Treat yo’self”—who says we can’t have fun or pick rewards for ourselves as adults? And they don’t have to be big or expensive things; mine is usually a bit of my favorite show or movie at the moment after 30-60 minutes of fully focused work.

🎧 Pair tasks with something fun - If there’s a book you’ve wanted to read, why not get the audiobook version on Audible or Libby, and listen while you get some chores done? It’s one of my favorite ways to make doing the dishes or laundry more enjoyable!

✍🏼 Ask yourself WHY - One of the best ways to prevent yourself from feeling unmotivated as often is to figure out WHY you’re feeling that way. Maybe you pack your schedule with too many things, or maybe you need to spend less time on social media. Whatever it is, getting down to the root of the problem will help you better understand yourself.
