I shared a post talking about a few benefits of drinking water and the comments inspired me to do a follow up post about a few tricks to help you drink more water on a daily basis.

I personally aim to drink at least 80oz (2 Stanley cups) of water a day, and last I checked, the average recommended amount daily is 8x8 — eight 8oz cups. It wholly depends on each person, though, which is an entirely different conversation.

Without this turning into a whole water lesson, here are a few tricks that you can try to help you drink more water:

1. Fill up a glass+carafe or water bottle to keep on your nightstand, and chug a glass or 2 first thing when you wake up.

2. Make it fun and add some fruit. Nothing is more refreshing than chilled flavored water. Strawberry-lemon and cucumber water is my favorite! You could also prep fruit ice blocks ahead of time to make it easier.

3. Set a timer for throughout the day. But then actually get up and drink a glass of water.

4. If you’re motivated by aesthetics— buy a Stanley, a Hydro Flask, a water bottle with the time stamps or whatever cute cup you please. Decide how many of them you need to finish a day and keep it with you at all times.

5. Make it part of your daily non-negotiable’s. Make a conscious + disciplined decision to drink your chosen amount daily.

6. Something that I do is for every sip of coffee or whatever beverage I’m sipping on, I take 2 sips of water.

7. Use a straw. A lot of people swear by this strategy, saying it’s a lot less effort to drink water through a straw, rather than opening a lid to take a swig.
