1. Find maintenance calories FIRST & incorporate more steps👟

Try this for a month just to see what happens. A lot of times, when most people start a diet, they immediately drop their calories EXTREMELY low which makes things miserable and is not even sustainable 😩 Start simple. You'll be surprised at what more movement and being mindful of your maintenance calories does!

2. Do NOT cut out entire food groups🍞

Unless you’re allergic, cutting out specific food groups is both unnecessary and damaging to your metabolism! In order to lose fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit. If we’re talking in LITERAL terms, it doesn’t matter if your calories come from donuts or avocados… when it comes to fat loss, the amount of calories you consume in a day is the amount of calories you consume in a day🤌🏼

3. Lift weights and increase protein🥩

While in a slight calorie deficit, keep your protein intake high. This will help you meet your fat loss goals without losing muscle ✨ Introducing weights into your workouts will boost your metabolic rate so your body burns more calories even at rest. It also ensures that most of the weight lost is fat rather than muscle, giving body a more "toned" look

4. KNOW THE DIFFFERENCE: Healthy vs Low Calorie🥗

Healthy isnt always low calorie and low calorie isn’t always healthy. Yes, an avocado is considered “healthy” because its nutrient dense BUT it is high in fat/calories so if you want to be in a calorie deficit, you may want to choose something less calorie dense like cucumbers🥒 another example could be 1 serving of almonds (healthy, 165 calories) vs 1 serving of skinnypop popcorn (unhealthy, 39 calories)🍿 Overall, you want a healthy/balanced diet so it’s important to include nutrient dense foods as well! Just be able to differentiate the two.
