GUT HEALTH GIRLYS GO-TO GUIDE ✨PESTICIDE PRODUCE✨

If you’re a fellow holistic health girly on your wellness journey, you probably know it is a CONSTANT learning curve where we are becoming enlightened about so many things along the way! ✨ After wasting so much money on “healthy” produce just to find out that it’s chemically treated with pesticides (such as weed killers!!), i decided to take it upon myself to figure out exactly how to spot the frauds from afar🦸🏼‍♂️…

-TOO perfect 👄

Most of the naturally grown produce (notice how i’m hesitant to use the word “organic” lol) has a more rustic appearance with some sort of imperfection or unusual shape. There are no two vegetables alike!🍆🍌If you are buying fruits and vegetables that look all shiny and polished, they have probably been treated with harmful fertilizers or wax to keep bugs away🐛… if this isn’t your reminder to ✨embrace the imperfections in life✨, i don’t know what is🤌🏼

-Numbers Game📓

Organically grown fruits/veggies have five digits on their label that all start with the number 9🍅 If it’s five-digit code that starts with an 8 means the item is genetically modified. 🧬 And if the label starts with a 3 or 4 and has a four-digit code, it’s probably conventionally grown🥑… using this as my cheat sheet has saved me SO much time and money LOL🙌

-Long Shelf Life ⏰

Natural produce normally does not have a long shelf life last because it is not sprayed and/or cleaned with preservatives🧼 Most natural produce will last about a week (depending on what you get) so if it’s looking shiny and fresh for longer than that, than it may be #sus

-Plastic storage 🫙

One of my BIGGEST ICKS!! If you see produce marketed as “natural” and “organic” but they STORE IT IN A PLASTIC CONTAINER, at that point save your money and just grow your own😂 even if the produce is high quality, i feel like putting it in plastic just completely defeats the purpose

Moral of the story: Local farmer’s markets are honestly your best bet.👩‍🌾 If you can become friendly with the farmers in your area (they are normally the vendors at the farmer’s markets), they will probably be more than happy to offer a generous discount or deal with you being a regular customer🧺 THEN you’re getting fresh produce that’s 10x better quality than your conventional grocery store, for 1/2 the price✨ Holistic babes love a good bargain🤌🏼
