CHILI is one of those restaurants i’ve seen on my feed time and time again, so today we’re finally trying it!! they made Yelp’s list of top 100 restaurants in the nation 🏆 and are even made up of a michelin-starred team coming from the famous cafe china 🇨🇳

first impression was how beautiful the interior decor was 😍 the service was phenomenal too and the waiters all wore suspenders and newspaper hats 😆 gave off very vintage vibes

what we ordered (🫶🏼 = my faves):

-drinks: 2 cocktails (i forgot the names 🥲)

-truffle beef tenderloin 🫶🏼

-qiaojiao beef herbal soup 🫶🏼🫶🏼

-beef pancake wrap 🫶🏼

-braised fish fillet with tofu

-dan dan noodles 🫶🏼

-braised tofu with crab meat

-golden garlic shrimp

-sauteed green beans 🫶🏼

-fried rice with shredded tea smoked duck

⭐️ final verdict: worth the hype BUT i’d say only for their APPS, cocktails, and ambiance 👀 their apps >>> entrees imo. they wowed me much more than the entrees. maybe we ordered the wrong things? 😩

my ultimate favorite dish is their qiaojiao beef herbal soup, which was a year of the dragon special 🐉✨ i’ll cry if they don’t move it to their regular menu… SO good 😭!! loved the dan dan noodles too. (btw for anyone who knows me - yes i’m able to eat dan dan noodles now! i’ve trained!!!)

i loved the truffle beef tenderloin too! the beef was unbelievably tender and you could taste the truffle umami in every bite. unfortunately the other entrees we got didn’t meet my expectations given the hype, but like don’t get me wrong bc they were still GOOD ykwim??

the presentation of braised tofu with crab + truffle beef tenderloin was crazyyy with the dry ice. ordered dinner but got a show 🧊🤪 also we didn’t get any dessert but i hear a lot about their rice wine soup!
