I was able to get diagnosed with #endometriosis after much pain for several years! I felt better much sooner than the doctors had told me I would. I believe much of that was because the post #laparoscopicsurgery aches were absolutely a breeze compared to my period cramps. Here were some other ways I felt relief, or things I did to make it easier on myself post-op!

• BRAIDS:

Doing an easy French braid the morning of saved me from tangles and getting in the way for the next couple days that I would just be lounging. No one wants to keep tying their hair in a bun or brushing it when their abdominal wall is recovering. The braids made it so much easier!

•LOOSE CLOTHING:

Nothing would be more annoying than clothes stretched across your incisions and moving about a sensitive area. Flowy outfits are so much easier to get back on after the surgery in the hospital as well!

•PLUSHIE OR PILLOW:

Seatbelts are inconveniently placed along your freshly healing tummy. Having something to take a bit of stress off the impact is a must.

Sleeping through your first day is great, but nothing gets rid of that extra CO2 like movement. Allowing yourself some very very light aerobics (aka just walking around your house) helps it release and dissipate. Rest is of course amazing, but a little movement also helps tremendously. Find a good balance for yourself.

•SUPPLEMENTS:

Benadryl or some other sleep medicine is fantastic to helping you fully REM to recovery. I was prescribed some strong pain killers, but got some to take off and on as needed. The real star of the show is actually the activated charcoal! Gas X and similar pills only help when it’s all from your stomach. This gas is trapped in your body outside of your stomach. Activated charcoal helps it go away from the chest and shoulder areas that it will migrate towards.

•TEA:

Staying hydrated is so important. However, drinking only water day in and day out gets old and you may want to switch it up! Peppermint is very hydrating and the warmth soothes your aching tummy!

•ENTERTAINMENT:

This one’s a givin, but you’ll be laying about resting for a while, I think that’s sounds boring. Reading was a way for me to get lost in another world and distract myself, as well as blocking out all my anxious thoughts.
