Why you should consider a destination wedding

Before I dive in I should make it very clear that I am not married, engaged, or planning any wedding of my own. This is all coming from a girl who is the poster child of “always a bridesmaid and never a bride.”

That being said, with every wedding I go to I learn more and more about what I do and DON’T want to do for my wedding someday. The latest wedding I went to was 100% exactly what I’d want to do. So that’s why I decided to share not only the pros and cons of a destination wedding, but also the ideal schedule to help make the most of you and your guests time.

✈️Fly in Wednesday

⭐️I suggest this because you get an extra day to soak up the place without having any activities planned

🌴Pool day Thursday

⭐️Another chill day where everyone can get to know each other. It’s also great because if people are flying in that day they can just come straight to the pool.

💃🏽Bachelorette Thursday Night

⭐️I absolutely loved this because we didn’t have to pay for an extra trip to celebrate the bride on a bachelorette party. Our resort had a nice cocktail bar and a club that gave us the perfect amount of activities and places to party after doing a nice dinner.

⛴️Excursion Friday

⭐️The bride and groom booked a boat for the entire wedding party and it was SO fun. It felt like a joint bachelor/bachelorette party plus the other guests. I’m not sure how much it cost or what the name of the company they used is, but I highly suggest doing something like this for your wedding party if you have the means to do so!

🥂Rehearshal Friday Night

⭐️Not much to say with this one! We had the boat booked early enough that we were able to get back by 2pm and have time to chill before getting ready for a 7pm rehearsal. And after that we all went to a reception at the hotel with drinks and small bites.

💍Wedding Saturday

⭐️We actually got to spend the first half of the day by the pool since we didn’t have to start getting ready until about 1pm since the wedding wasn’t until 5pm. It was an extremely lax day for a wedding and everyone was in such a good mood!

❤️‍🩹Recovery Sunday

⭐️A much-needed day to recover from the party. I also liked having a recovery day because it gave us another day to be with the bride and groom. Most weddings you barely see them, but this was a great way to just hang out with everyone.

One more thing to note: I suggest looking into an all-inclusive resort so that you and your guests don’t have to worry about meals and drinks the whole time. According to the bride, it seemed to be the most cost efficient option with their wedding planning too. We were at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort if you want to look into it!
