the secret to waking up early actually has more to do with your ✨day✨ than your morning! i spent most of my life staying up till 12-3am, and then waking up super late.
now i wake up at 5am most days, and can’t imagine any other way! and while my mornings themselves haven’t really changed, what HAS changed is the way i live my days, and my mindset.
these are the top 5 reasons why you stay up too late, and how to start making changes! (in my own personal experience ofc, everyone is different!) 💕
➡️ not enough movement
if you don’t work out or move your body in a way that makes it tired, your mind may be tired at the end of the day while your body keeps you awake from a lack of healthy exhaustion
solution: move your body
➡️ you had a “filler” day
when you don’t live your day to it’s fullest potential, you won’t be as tired when you go to bed. you have so much untapped energy swirling around in you that’s either gone unused, or was misdirected, and it’s now seeking a means of output which keeps you awake at night
solution: make the most of your day
➡️ no solid evening routine
if you don’t have a proper evening routine that settles your mind and body for the evening, you’ll end up staying awake all night feeling like you need or want to be doing something
solution: create a calming evening routine you enjoy
➡️ you’re an over-achiever
the night offers the freedom of permission to rest. and in that space where there’s no obligation, your creativity and sense of being present spikes. so if
you’re an overachiever (and during the day you feel like if you’re not busy you’re f*cking up) you might stress yourself out trying to be productive during the day and end up actually being productive at night once the pressure is off
solution: learn ways to relax during the day so you can be more productive
➡️ childhood trauma
if you experienced childhood trauma, night was likely the only time that belonged only to you and was safe, because you were alone. so the evening can easily feel like safety and freedom (making you want to soak up every moment of it) while the day feels like tension and anxiety or fear
solution: do things you usually do at night during the day to re-train your mind
