healing isn’t easy. but sometimes we tell ourselves stories that make it harder than it has to be!!

these are 6 of the most common myths we tell ourselves as we heal!

1️⃣ myth: you should be “past” something by now

reality: things we think we’ve healed already continually return for deeper awareness, feeling, healing, and integration.

2️⃣ myth: healing is something to be completed

reality: healing is something to be experienced! there’s so much joy and wholeness found in the *process* of recovery - joy that we miss out on when we rush through it to get to some imagined, ideal, healed version of ourself that doesn’t exist

3️⃣ myth: healing means symptoms are gone

reality: healing is a continual invitation! we often think that if old patterns reappear, then the work we did was wrong, or incomplete. but as we’re greeted with new situations, people, and growth, we’re often invited to revisit old stories and wounds that we thought were well behind us. do your best to welcome the opportunity to honor old wounds in new ways

4️⃣ myth: when you heal you’ll finally be happy

reality: there’s no “finish line” to the healing process - it’s a continual commitment to letting go a little more every day! and healing doesn’t mean mental health struggles are over…it means we’re better equipped to deal with them. happiness isn’t something we find at the end of the rainbow - find the joy in the process!

5️⃣ myth: healing means hard times and hard feelings are easier

reality: as you heal you gain new beliefs, awareness, knowledge, and tools to meet difficulties with. life doesn’t get easier, YOU just get stronger and wiser

6️⃣ myth: you’re not healing fast enough

reality: it took years of repetition to reinforce the negative - so it’ll take repition to repair it, too. there’s no proper timeline! there’s only the present, and what you choose to do with it
