I’ve been studying business and finance for a while and I always told myself I’d learn how to invest someday—but I kept procrastinating because I felt like I didn’t have enough knowledge. If you want a riskier portfolio without having to consistently follow and understand the market trends, company financials etc, then this is probably suitable for you

Finally taking the step with this ILP has taught me so much about the markets, and now I follow financial news related to my investments more actively.

Here’s how I allocated my portfolio:

• Global Equity (40%)

• Global Tech (20%)

There are many funds to choose from, but I picked these based on my personal preferences and risk tolerance. For eg. I wanted exposure to invest in technology to be exposed to companies like Apple, Nvidia, Google etc…

• As students or young adults, it’s easy to get caught up in spending on cafes, nightlife, travel, or other short-term pleasures. But small, consistent investments—even just $100 or $200 a month—can go a long way over time, as seen in the excel.

• Some people worry about being “locked in” to investments, but the truth is, investing is a lifelong process. Think about it—do you ever plan to stop investing? Probably not I hope… so, there’s no need to fear staying committed.

• Staying invested over the long term smooths out market fluctuations and builds wealth steadily.

🤔 What to Know About ILPs 🤔

An Investment-Linked Plan (ILP) offers both investment growth and insurance coverage. Not all ILPs are the same—some emphasize protection, while others, like this one, focuses more on investment potential 💰

Although my plan is investment-focused, it still offers some protection. If something happens—such as death, total permanent disability, or terminal illness—the plan will pay out, even if it’s within the lock in period, mine is a 15-year term.

To me it makes sense because the policy will pay out the money when you need it the most 😷 and takes away another financial liability in times like that.
