Ingredients:
For the churros:
• 1 cup water
• 2 ½ tbsp sugar
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• Vegetable oil for frying
For the cinnamon sugar coating:
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the chocolate dipping sauce:
• ½ cup dark chocolate chips
• ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions:
1️⃣ Make the Dough:
In a medium saucepan, heat the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until the mixture forms a smooth ball of dough.
2️⃣ Prepare for Frying:
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (180°C). The oil should be about 2 inches deep.
3️⃣ Shape the Churros:
Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe the dough into long strips directly into the hot oil, cutting the strips with scissors or a knife as needed.
4️⃣ Fry Until Golden:
Fry the churros in batches, turning them occasionally, until golden brown on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per batch). Remove and drain on paper towels.
5️⃣ Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow dish. Roll each churro in the cinnamon sugar while still warm.
6️⃣ Make the Chocolate Sauce:
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Pour over the dark chocolate chips and stir until smooth. Serve warm with the churros.
