hello 🍋s,

gonna share about my motorcycle experience, if you’re considering getting a bike or a license, here are some insights ~

i got my motorbike (2b) license in 2017 and been riding motorcycle since then. changed my first bike last year from yamaha xabre150 to r15 and honestly there was a huge difference between a road bike and sport bike.

• get your parents/partner approval

many people might disagree but i still stand strong on this point. no matter how old you are, i will still suggest that you get your parents/partner approval before getting a license or a bike. you need to be a responsible child or partner. riding can be dangerous. legit. even if you are careful, others might not.

my parents were supportive and my dad actually insisted my siblings & i to get our licenses (both car & bike) for convenient traveling.

• financial consideration

having a bike is definitely cheaper than owning a car but it’s not as cheap as you think. in singapore, you can loan from the bike shop and pay by instalment. i bought my first bike at $13k (in 2017) & monthly instalment about $260~ for 5 years.

on top of the bike $$$, there’s petrol, monthly carpark fees, repair & maintenance fees, yearly road tax, bike inspection & insurance. depending on the damage and spare parts, damage can range from $30 to hundreds.

smaller cc bikes cost about $64 for yearly road tax and bike insurance is determined by your age. i first got my bike at 20 and insurance was $1000+. now that i’m 26 it’s about $500++.

to be honest, i spent quite a lot of my bikes, didn’t track the amount but definitely more than 4 digits. so make sure you have sufficient cash flow before getting yourself into it.

& that’s all ~ hope that some of my pointers can help you to make a decision ✨
