how to score A for internship 🎉🎉🎉

I studied the Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and interned in my final semester of my schooling year. I interned at my company for 6 months, and got an A! 😁😁😁

Personally, I think that interning in your last semester is the best because you have already learned all your modules which could potentially help you during intern, and you also don’t have to worry so much about school anymore 😌😌😌

I interviewed for two companies, and I would say I aced it as both of them accepted me 🤭🤭🤭 and the company that I didn’t choose told me during the interview that I am the most prepared interviewee that they have ever had 😎😎😎

The first step to doing well for your internship is actually your resume and interview 😳 Your colleagues form their first impressions of you based on that, and that’s why it is important to not JUST WING IT during your interview 😅😅😅

1️⃣ Make sure your resume has no spelling and grammatical errors, and that it is short and sweet

You can use point forms when describing your previous working experiences, and that it shows what you have gained from the job (like any skills or achievements) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ You can also highlight the modules you did well in if it relates to the job description

2️⃣ Know what the company values and missions are

During the interview, you can talk about how the company and your own goals are aligned, and why you think you think their company can teach you the things you want to learn 🆙🆙🆙 Since I interviewed for event companies, I told them I had a passion for events and I would freelance for events so I could gain experience. I also told them that I have attended events organised by their companies and I enjoyed the experience, and that is why I chose their company 😋😋😋

3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to ask questions

The questions you ask show the interviewer what you are expecting from the job, and it also shows your mindset towards the role. Some good questions you can ask are:

“What is a typical work week like?”

“How would you descried the working culture/environment here?”

So what are some things you can do during your internship to help you achieve that A? 🤔🤔🤔

➡️ Build relationships with your colleagues

Your supervisor is the one grading you, but you shouldn’t JUST stick to them. Making friends with your other colleagues can help you learn more about the industry, and they can help you when you face any troubles or issues at work too 🙆‍♀️🙆‍♀️🙆‍♀️ Having a better relationship with your colleagues will help to form a better impression of you as well, making it easier to get a better grade! 🙇‍♀️

➡️ Go the extra mile

Anyone can do the bare minimum 🤓 You need to do more than what is expected to be able to show how you are really trying. It can be something small like them asking you to set the pantry table for guests and you fold a simple towel design to make it ✨extra fancy✨, or making sure the excel sheet they asked you to do is well organised and colour coded for easy reference. All these small actions would show your supervisor that you are really trying to do your best 🌝🌝🌝

Internships are suppose to be learning experiences for you, so don’t be afraid or too upset when you make mistakes! 💙 Just learn from them and improve, and give it your best because you don’t want to shortchange yourself 💪 Good luck and have fun hehe 🫵👍
