STORYTIME (had to turn off comments because of people that obviously have no experience with allergies we’re telling me I should never eat out, it’s entirely my fault and then sent me death threats 😋 gotta love lemon8)

Okay, first and foremost I will say, in hindsight I should have mentioned I have an allergy to peanuts before ordering. In my defense, I’ve eaten at this location millions of times, multiple types of dishes, and I actually did not know they had pad Thai or anything containing peanuts and noodles in the same dish (which may seem obvious to some, but due to my previous experiences at this location it was never something that crossed my mind nor did I notice). **DISCLAIMER I DO NOT BLAME THE WORKERS OR NOODLES AND COMPANY FOR THIS AS ITS JUST A REALITY I FACE WHEN DECIDING TO EAT OUT, THERE IS ALWAYS A CHANCE OF THIS HAPPENING AND IM JUST SHARING A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE**

What I ordered is what’s above, I got butter noodles completely plain, no seasoning or anything extra. Just literally butter and noodles. I absolutely devoured a large bowl of this after work with my boyfriend, and halfway through I noticed I was feeling odd and having very small allergies (a mild itch in my throat). I stopped eating, but was confused because more often than not if I were to eat something with peanuts, I can smell it right away no matter how subtle the smell may be to someone else. So, I took a break and the symptoms calmed down. I figured maybe it was psychological because that has happened to me before, so I tried eating a little bit more slowly this time and, to my surprise, these plain ass butter noodles were the cause. I didn’t have my epi pen or Benadryl With me because today I had accidentally left my purse at home, so my boyfriend rushed me to Walgreens and we got the Benadryl as my symptoms progressed.

We headed to the hospital because I wasn’t sure if the Benadryl was going to kick in in time, and as we drove there, my symptoms diminished and we thought everything was fine. So, after waiting it out for a bit at the hospital, we headed home because we thought it was over. Now, I’ve done this before and Benadryl has completely stopped my reactions before, but this time this was not the case. We got home, at this point we knew it had to be the noodles and we threw it out. As we sat there relaxing and everything was fine, I felt my symptoms starting again. I knew right away this was a bigger problem, and asked my boyfriend to rush me to the hospital.

On the way there, I thought to myself “I’m dying, he’s watching me die right now and there’s nothing we can do.” I felt so bad because he was so worried, and the impending doom was awful but I didn’t want to freak him out more as he drove. I kept feeling itching all across my body like never before and my breathing was becoming more and more shallow on the way there.

We got there, they stuck me with a whole bunch of needles and gave me a plethora of meds for my reaction and told me if I was a couple of minutes later than we were they would’ve had to intubate me (insert a tube through my mouth and throat so I can breathe or cut a hole in my throat to insert the tube).

Long story short, if you have an allergy like me, just because a restaurant doesn’t put it in big print that they carry peanut products, always investigate further and never assume that something as bland as buttered noodles is safe!! (Switched up the last bit because so many people got upset I guess in my original wording 😀) #peanutallergy #noodles #noodlesandcompany #becareful #fearfoods #allergic #allergicreactions
