1️⃣ 𝑶𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆

• by this i mean fill in all sections in your profile that can be filled in

• not just the education and experience sections but your skills as well

• people like to see the full picture of who you are and what you do when you approach them to network

2️⃣ 𝑮𝒆𝒕 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔

• getting people you’ve worked with to give you endorsements for skills or even testimonials gives you more credibility

• people can see that you’ve done good work that has been acknowledged and they can see how to connect with you

3️⃣ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒅𝑰𝒏 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑𝒔

• joining LinkedIn groups and show others your interests and you can use that to connect with them

• you can even use these groups to connect with likeminded individuals

4️⃣ 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔

• this can allow people to see what you’ve accomplished, and what you think of items

• not only that, it can showcase how you can be analytical, thoughtful and active about your passions

5️⃣ 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆’𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔

• when you network with someone, especially if it’s someone you don’t know, look through their profiles to find things in common or things you want to find out more about them

• find a point of interest to approach people to build a connection

𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐒

1️⃣ 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕

• you’ve already met these people and built up a connection

• so when you send them an invitation, make sure bring up that connection to build rapport

• mention how you want to stay connected and opportunities to reconnect

2️⃣ 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍

• establish your connection from work or school and introduce yourself (don’t assume they will read your profile!)

• bring up the reason you wanna connect (e.g. have a chat about a topic, etc.)

3️⃣ 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘

• this is a little tricky but nothing out of the ordinary!

A. introduce yourself and try to find something in common (whether it’s your alma mater, industry or interests)

B. bring up how something they do/have accomplished interests you

C. invite them to connect and perhaps have a coffee chat to establish the connection!
