jealousy has become kind of a taboo emotion - you’re supposed to conceal and not feel it or let it show (thank you elsa) it’s easier said than done but here are 5 simple steps that have helped me overcome JEALOUSY 😌

1. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 🧭

• ask yourself where the jealousy is coming from

• e.g. you friend’s relationship causes you jealousy because you haven’t had much luck dating and you’re upset about that

• it could stem from insecurity, fear, or past relationship patterns so know why can help you better deal with what’s going on within than taking it out on others

2. 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒔 𝑨𝑺𝑨𝑷 🎙️

• if your partner’s actions trigger these feelings, tell them so you can work it out together

• they may not have realised how you felt so use this to reevaluate boundaries because these feelings are normal

• they can also assure you instead of you bottling up at letting it eventually explode

3. 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 👯‍♀️

• for the people involved, emotions may run high and lack objectivity

• speaking to a trusted/neutral third party can offer good perspective on the situation

• they can affirm you in your feelings OR tell you you’re being unreasonable

4. 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆 👍🏼

• you might not have everything you want, but you probably have at least some of it

• give thanks for what you have

• e.g. if you’re feeling jealous because your partner spends a lot of time with your friends, consider the benefits of having a partner that values friendship

5. 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒋𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒚 🩵

• you’re only human and as much as jealousy has a bad rep, it’s normal to feel it at times

• in these instances, remember your own value and be kind to yourself!
