DIY roman shades

I've talked above budget-friendly custom window treatments before (see my post on DIY café curtains 😊) and I'm sharing another one!

this one is especially great if you already have plain, white blinds that you're looking to zhush up. the only thing you would have to purchase is fabric and fabric glue! this fabric is from my favorite fabric store @Joann--they always have great deals going on 😉

let's get started:

1) take down and clean blinds

2) cut the thin cord that pivots the blinds

3) measure blinds (H) and divide by 7 --these are 65" ÷ 7 = 9-- so I kept 8 slats and the bottom rail

4) lay out fabric and place blinds on top, pull cord facing up, leaving at least a 2 inch border all around **make sure all slats are facing the same direction and are evenly spaced**

5) starting at the top, cut a notch on the side and glue into head rail (repeat on the other side)

6) wrap the rest of the head rail with the fabric (cutting excess when needed)

7) apply glue to slats, fold over fabric, and secure with clothes pin

8) glue fabric to all slats and bottom rail

....from boring to interesting in just a few short steps!
