Or maybe you’re just trying to strengthen your upper body. Either way, these guide and tips will definitely help you with that!💪🏻

For absolute beginners, you’ll wanna start off with simple active hangs, then moving on to using resistance bands for your pull-ups, then do negative pull-ups, to achieve your very first unassisted pull-up!!! Finally, you can then work on increasing your reps.😆 Always keep this in mind: Chest to bar (rather than chin to bar)😌

1️⃣•Active Hang: This is literally what it is; actively engaging the relevant muscle groups while hanging on the bar. To get your body familiar with using & activating your lats, you’ll want to hang on the bar as you normally would, AND consciously pull your shoulders down, away from your ears. Aim for 10 seconds, then slowly increase it day-by-day to reach 30 seconds. 🙌🏻

2️⃣•Resistance band: Start off with the thickest band. The thicker the band, the more the resistance, thus it will help support more of your bodyweight. Aim to increase your reps (10 reps would be a good gauge), before trying out a slightly thinner band. With that, slowly work your way towards the thinnest resistance band. This might take a few weeks or months. 💪🏻

3️⃣•Negatives: Jump up into the top of the pull-up position, then slowly lower yourself down into an active hang position. Focus on feeling your lats going through the eccentric phase. ✨

4️⃣•Increase reps: Increasing your reps (while maintaining the same bodyweight) will help to build lean muscle mass, with a stronger focus on muscle endurance. Once you unlock your first pull-up, it will only be a matter of weeks before you reach 5, then 10, and soon; 20!😆🎉

❗️Tips: For those with no easy access to a pull-up bar, you might want to consider other forms of training to strengthen your back muscles, which include the lat machine pull-downs & dumbbells/barbell bent-over rows! 🏋🏻‍♀️
