which film is the best? guide for film beginners 📸

one of the most exciting things when shooting film is choosing which film stock to go with, but with the multitude of brands on the market today, my ultimate favourite is still KODAK - affordable and widely produced, it’s perfect for both beginners and professionals!

1️⃣ KODAK ULTRAMAX 400

🏷️ $15

✅ crisp & clear photos, performs well even when foggy/at night, perfect for golden hour shots

❌ may be too bright/clear for some, i also found my pics too overexposed when there was harsher/stronger sunlight :(

2️⃣ KODAK COLOURPLUS 200

🏷️ $12

✅ most affordable price point for film, lovely grain and warm tones give it the quintessential film look ✨

❌ performs poorly at night as it is ISO 200

3️⃣ KODAK EKTAR 100

🏷️ $24

✅ one of kodak’s ‘professional’ film stocks, the colours are rich yet has the perfect amount of contrast to give the most gorgeous, postcard perfect pics

❌ the price point 🥹 it also only comes in 24 exposures so that’s almost $1 per shot, not counting the development cost! i would say invest in one if you’re going to somewhere really special - i brought this to my italy trip and it was one of the BEST decisions ever

4️⃣ KODAK GOLD 200

🏷️ $14

✅ similar warm tones and grainy effect, the colours are super true to real life and is the perfect everyday film stock

❌ it’s also an ISO 200 film so it’s not as good at night!

🛍️ i buy my films from any kodak store (those kind that take your passport pics) or at whampoa colour centre for the best prices in sg!
