Anyone else spend so much time looking for a piece of furniture, nothing seems to be just quite right, so you make it yourself? I am trying to become that type of girl because it truly is so empowering.
I have always loved finding ways to do something myself. Whether it is staining a piece of furniture, moving all of the furniture in my home by myself, or even learning to cut my own hair. I want to be a do it all girl.
So, I had been thinking for months about attempting to make my own headboard. I would have bought a typical one, but my bedroom space is limited and I needed to not waste any space with a bulky headboard and frame.
Here’s what you need:
1. Go to Home Depot
2. Get a piece of plywood (you can pick varying quality here depending on your price range. My piece was about $50)
3. The plywood typically comes as a 4 x 8 piece. If you have a queen size bed, I recommend cutting down to 4 x 5 feet. I left mine at 4 x 6 feet and it was slightly too long. They will cut it down for you at home depot.
4. Get a stapler. ~$17-50 depending on your price range.
5. Go to Jo Ann Fabrics and pick out your batting and fabric. Make sure you download the app and look for discounts! I got my fabrics to be around $20 for each type.
Do you want a part 2 for the how to set it up?
