time for a new hobby ? where to learn ceramics !

I wanted to learn pottery for the longest time and decided to take classes from Mud Rock Ceramics cause i felt that their class structure was very comprehensive and the price seemed reasonable (ish) 😬

I took 2 rounds of beginner course, 10 classes in total for $660. In the first 2 classes, you learn basis ceramic techniques like coiling & slab building. 3rd & 4th class is throwing and trimming and 5th class is glazing.

In the 6th to 8th class, i focused on improving my throwing techniques which was super helpful, then trimming on the 9th and glazing on the 10th. Refer to pic 2, top image is during class 4 and bottom pic is by class 8 🤭

After understanding the basics, I went on to do open studio somewhere else since mud rock’s prices are 🫣📈 when i first made my cups (pic 3), there was lots of cracking on my pieces (skill issue 🤪) Plus it was a different clay from the one i was using at mud rock so it felt different…

After that, that studio closed down… so i changed studio and decided to try making figurines~ (pic 4) They turned out to be so fun and therapeutic to make 🫶 I also got to try different clays here and found the one that i like most 😬

I also saw other artist on instagram add figurines to their cups and that’s what i did (pic 5) 🥺 Looks so cute, I sold it for $30 😭 Haven’t been making much ceramics recently and i miss it so much 😪
