How to manufacture on alibaba ? FAQ answered 🤫

I think most things can be made locally, however they might just be the middle man and are outsourcing it overseas so personally, i prefer to liaise directly with the factory.

With that said, how to source for manufacturers overseas?! Some friends i know use taobao but because i cant read chinese, i use alibaba ✨

Step 1:

Type in the search bar what you want to make: custom (hair clip, coaster, towel, etc)

Step 2:

Look for those who have sample products that are close to what you want to make. I believe that the more similar the custom they made before, the better results you’d get 🤔

Step 3:

See how many years they are in business for! This is just a personal preference but if they are only in their first year of business, idk if i can trust them with my money or the quality of the end product !!

Step 4:

Ask questions and show them what you want to make so that it will be easier for them to quote you & let you know if it is feasible or not.

Questions i usually ask are:

- What is the minimum order?

- How long is the lead time?

- How much will it cost?

- How much will delivery be?

- & If they can do a preproduction sample

If anyone gives off some red flags during this stage, pls don’t be colour blind to it !!! 🚩🚩🚩

Step 5:

Good practices say to look for 3 manufacturers to compare prices (so repeat step 1-4) but i usually skip it 😫

Step 6:

Pay money and pray 🙏 I will also ask for a photo once the products are completed, so that i wont get a heart attack when it’s delivered! But they tend to forget / need some chasing 🫣

Step 7:

Receive the goods & do your own QC ! 👁️👄👁️
