Hi there, yes you. Whether you are currently pregnant or battling weight gain due to pregnancy. I'm here to share my journey and to let you know it's not easy. So don't be too hard on yourself!

Background: I've gained 15kg during my pregnancy. My baby was 3.3kg during birth. I weighed myself a day after I delivered, and I only shed 4kg..... This doesn't make sense, right? How could the amniotic fluid weigh so little? And my placenta, it surely looked heavy.

Well, that was something I couldn't change. So i told myself not to focus on that. I need to focus on recovery. ✨Think positively and focus on one thing at a time. Having negative thoughts is not gonna help your mental health✨

Things took a turn for the worst two weeks postpartum. I lost 10kg! You might wonder, isn't it good news? Sadly, what caused my weight loss ain't something glamorous to really talk about.

I was in pain for 11 days due to the episiotomy cut. The distress caused me to lose appetite. The other reason for my abnormal weight loss was due to the external stress from my in-laws. Their actions could be found on the "Things you should never do to a newborn or a new parent" list online. If you Google it. I'll leave it to your imagination.

I started doing some light exercises in the 6th week postpartum to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles. ✨this should definitely be your main focus✨ Not weight loss!

Thereafter, I hit a plateau. The legendary 4-5kg pregnancy weight is the hardest to lose. I blamed it on the hormone imbalances. in the end, I stopped lying to myself, and I started doing cardio.

✨NO PAIN NO GAIN✨

So I started climbing stairs. 80 storeys to 100 storeys. I did it twice a week, and I lost 3kg in 2 weeks. I only left 2kg to reach my prenatal weight. I won't give up. So can you.
