Food review : Lawry’s The Prime Rib

Lawry’s Prime rib - overhyped or nah ?

“Complimentary” items

Spinning salad (7.5/10) - Caesar salad , without cheese , served from a bed of ice , topped with some “1000 islands” salad dressing . Good balance , light flavours and refreshing .

Bread with butter (7/10) - Free flow but wish that they could’ve used compound butter instead of just plain butter . Bun was soft and airy , nothing out of this world .

Complimentary birthday month cake (6.5/10)- Strawberry cake . super sweet , tasted like cough syrup with some bitterness. Strawberry flavours and sweetness felt very artificial and processed .

Starters

Truffle Fries (7.5) - sweet potato fries . Crunchy , not oily and couldn’t really taste any “truffle”

Lobster bisque (7.5/10) - sweet , creamy and taste of lobster is just a tad bit too light.

Tenderloin , 240g (9.5/10) - by far one of the best steaks I’ve tried . Despite ordering medium-well ☠️☠️, flavour was still super beefy and it was still tender . Comes with 3 sauces - Bernaise , pepper-mushroom and mushroom ? Pepper-mushroom was the best though . Comes with horse radish , one of which tasted like wasabi and the other I did not try 😭

Lawry’s Cut (Prime Rib) , 285g (8/10) - despite being their signature cut it was kinda disappointing … nonetheless , it was the first trying a prime rib 😀 The chef prepares it right in front of you and serves it hot from a portable oven thing . Comes a side of mashed potato and a Yorkshire pudding which tasted like a croissant. Beefy flavour was there , tho not as strong as the Tenderloin. Used the provided salt and pepper since the flavour was not as robust as expected . Serving size was huge despite being only 40g more than the Tenderloin

Overall experience: 7.5/10

Although the taste of the food was not as great as expected , it was still tasty . Would I come back here again ? No . Overhyped ? Kinda…
